PeakPitThankful: January 29th

photothe cars lined up for the first heat of the Grand Prix race

Wednesdays are my favorite morning and my least favorite bedtime (how’s that for a contradiction?). Late-start Wednesday–starting school an hour later on Wednesday morning–is the best thing ever, allowing us to have a mid-week catch up day, and giving extra time spent in pajamas eating waffles before the school day begins.
My love affair with Wednesday wains as the day presses on, however, because the moment SJ gets in the car from the pick-up line, our mad dash begins. We’ve got homework to accomplish, AWANA verses to memorize and dinner (or something we pretend is dinner) to be consumed all before 5:30pm. Tricky.
Without question, all the crazy rushing and face-stuffing becomes worth it when your daughter proudly exclaims, “I memorized 5 more verses this week!”.

Peak: Celebrating with SJ after AWANA that she memorized 5 verses tonight
Pit: That Kate isn’t feeling well
Thankful: That despite the cold weather, we have a great spring break to look forward to!

Peak: Watching a friend’s child win the AWANA Grand Prix, and celebrating his success
Pit: Not being with Sara on her birthday
Thankful: That God orchestrated a ‘divine appointment’ to run into a friend today, so I could make the extra effort to support her sweet boy in the Grand Prix race (did I mention he won?!)
