How far along: 35-1/2 weeks.
How big is baby: Baby Ott weighs in at 4lbs14 ozs and measures over 18 inches long (about the size of a honeydew melon). Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of her basic physical development is now complete — she’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
Weight gain/loss: I was not subjected to the scale at the OB’s office yesterday! Hard to believe–but it leaves me guessing on my current weight gain–which I’m guessing is hovering around 5 lbs? I’m sure I won’t dodge the scale two weeks in a row, so we’ll know for sure next week!
Sleep: Once again finding myself awake for long stretches in the night, I defaulted to my tried and true ‘try new bedding!’ this week–it has worked for a few nights. However, after misplacing my pillow, I’m on the prowl for the perfect pillow… a bit like a unicorn–not too hard & not too soft.
Diet/Cravings/Aversions: The cold weather has wet my appetite for cozy comfort food: soups, stews, braised meats, roasts, etc. It’s nice to look forward to eating instead of dreading the same old same old.
Movement: We’ve recently nicknamed the baby ‘Thumper’ as she’s taken to thumping my ribs with great zeal. Her feet are often protruding out in noticeable little bumps.
What I’m loving: 1. The excitement that SJ brings home from School–she bursting at the seams as she gets in the car, excited to tell me all about the things she’s learning each day. 2. Our daily ‘TumTum & NutMeg Updates’ (the book she’s reading at school) with MeMa & Papa–SJ calls my parents each day after school and updates them on what’s taken place in the plot of her book. It’s pretty sweet to both watch her enthusiasm for reading, and to see her build relationships with her grandparents.
Symptoms: I’m still having regular contractions due to pre-term labor, which means I’m still on bedrest (I’ve gotten the green light to get off the couch at week 37). When I’m obedient, and rest as I should, I feel good.
What I’m looking forward to: After many months of prayerful planning, we’re breaking ground on the expansion project at church this weekend. I’m excited to see the many years of God’s faithfulness & our hard work celebrated on such a special day!
Best moment of the week: 1. The press release that I wrote regarding the ground breaking at church was picked up by a local press outlet and has gotten spread around on Facebook! Pretty exciting! 2. Spending the weekend at my parent’s house, celebrating their anniversary & my mom’s birthday was wonderful! It was sweet to be together, to have a change of scenery and to be together with those I love. 3. Celebrating with Griffin as he won the state-wide extraction competition. 4. Putting out my fall decorations with Griff. Watching him do something for me, out of love, because he knows how happy it makes me.
